SomersetIlminster
Ilminster is a small market town in the South Somerset district of Somerset, South West England. Since the the town was bypassed, the heavy traffic that used to thunder through the town has disappeared, and it is now the most tranquil and beautiful of places. The name Ilminster is derived from the local river, the Ile and its church, or minster, which dominates the town. Local amenities include four pubs ( Dolphin Inn, The George Inn and The New Inn, and the Stonemasons), two doctor's surgeries, a fire and ambulance station, local shops, restaurants and takeaways, and a primary school. Places worth a visit in and around Ilminster include Barrington Court, Dillington House, Perry's Cider farm, Herne hill, Ham hill and almost any of the many many picturesque villages in this part of Somerset.
