West Somerset Railway

The West Somerset Railway (WSR) is a preserved / heritage railway that runs along the edge of the Quantock Hills in Somerset, England, between Taunton and Minehead. Train services, however, only currently operate between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead.

The West Somerset Railway creates all the atmosphere of a typical Great Western Railway branch line of yesteryear. There are currently ten restored stations along the route, each one of which has its own charm and character.

At 23 miles, it is the longest privately owned passenger rail line in England. It operates using heritage steam and diesel locomotives, and provides public transport for the community, as well as a leisure attraction for tourists.
